The Liberty are one of several teams that have expressed interest in reigning co-Defensive Player of the Year Alanna Smith, multiple sources told The Post on Wednesday.
Smith, 29, set the rumor mill ablaze this week when she told an Australian reporter that she planned to test the free agency waters.
“I’m open to any opportunity,” said Smith, who was in Australia to support her sister signing a developmental deal with the WNBL’s Tasmania Jewels. “Like I said, I think it’s about best fit, and you know, I loved Minnesota but a lot of teams are looking different this year so I think I’d be doing a disservice to myself if I wasn’t exploring other opportunities.”
