PHILIPPINE BUSINESSES turned slightly less upbeat about the year-end outlook as economic conditions remained challenging despite expectations of stronger demand during the holiday and rice harvest seasons, a central bank survey showed.
Businesses’ three-month ahead confidence index (CI) fell to 20.9% in September, based on the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) latest business expectations survey (BES).
This was lower than the 24.6%% CI in August, and was the lowest CI recorded since July’s 3.7%.
