THE National Food Authority (NFA) said it is clearing its warehouse inventories to an estimated three days’ worth of reserves from the current seven, adding that it expects to exceed the 15 days’ inventory required by law when the harvest comes in.
NFA Administrator Larry R. Lacson said the drawdown in reserves is intended to make room for the harvest.
“Our target is really to hit 15 days,” Mr. Lacson said at a briefing.
The Commission on Audit, in its 2025 annual audit report released on Sept. 17, flagged the NFA for failing to meet the 15-day reserve level in 2025.
