The Moon has now reached its Waning Crescent phase, which means less than half of its surface illuminated. It will continue to decrease now until we reach the New Moon.
What is today’s Moon phase?
As of Monday, Nov. 2, NASA’s Daily Moon Guide tracker tells us the Moon is in the Waning Crescent phase, with 45% of its surface visible.
Tonight, without the use of visual aids you should be able to spot the Tycho Crater, Kepler Crater, and the Mare Imbrium. Binoculars will also help you see the Alphonsus Crater, the Clavius Crater, and the Grimaldi Basin. And, if you have access to a telescope, you’ll also see the Apollo 12 landing spot, the Reiner Gamma, and the Schiller Crater.
When is the next Full Moon?
The next Full Moon will take place on November 24.
