Ryan Thomas’ daughter, Scarlett, has revealed she received an ADHD diagnosis three years ago. The 17-year-old actress also shared how she feels people treat her because of the condition.
The Waterloo Road star spoke out after her father Ryan Thomas revealed his own ADHD diagnosis earlier this year. In a video posted on Snapchat, Scarlett urged her family to “chill out” when discussing ADHD.

Scarlett, whose mother is Coronation Street actress Tina O’Brien, explained that she received her diagnosis while she was in Year 9.
Sharing her personal view of the label, she said: “The word ADHD, get it away and put it in the bin because what do you mean somebody talks too much? What do you mean somebody has a different personality and suddenly they’ve got a disorder.”
Scarlett continued: “I don’t get it. I was diagnosed in Year Nine; it’s literally just a personality. It doesn’t make sense to me. Anyway, that’s my take on that.”
She then referenced her uncle Adam Thomas, who has discussed ADHD alongside brothers Ryan and Scott. Scarlett added: “I say it because my uncle Adam talks about it and he needs to chill out.”
The NHS describes attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as a condition that can affect attention, activity levels and impulse control. People can experience it in different ways.
