Shobna Gulati, star of The Serial Killer’s Wife – which airs tonight (Friday, December 27) – was once awarded a six-figure sum after having her phone hacked.
The hacking, which was settled in 2015, caused Shobna and her family much distress. It even led to her speaking out in court at the time.

The Serial Killer’s Wife star Shobna Gulati victim of phone hacking
Shobna became a regular feature on British television in the early noughties when she joined iconic soap Coronation Street as Sunita Alahan.
However, things started to go wrong in 2003, when her phone was hacked for the first time by the Mirror Group.
Soon after, an article about her “secret marriage” was published in a tabloid. This led to her writing to the Press Complaints Commission. Her son was bullied so much about the articles that he was forced to leave when he was 14.
Shobna was left confused as to where the information came from. She accused her then-partner of leaking the story to the press. This led to their relationship ending.
Speaking in the High Court in 2015 as she gave evidence, Shobna explained why she’d written to the Press Complaints Commission.
“I’m a single mum living on my own with my son. I believed it wasn’t in the public interest that the parentage of my child would be debated in a Sunday newspaper so I wrote this letter,” she said.
