Alex Kingston emotional as she makes ‘Strictly history’
Alex and her dance partner Johannes Radebe performed a rumba. And the beautiful dance left quite a lot of people “emotional”.
After the successful dance, judge Shirley couldn’t hide her love for the performance and had to physically get out of her seat to praise.
When Tess directed Alex to Shirley standing on her feet, clapping, Shirley actually headed over to see her.
She told Alex: “I have to come down, I have to come down here. I have to tell you – I’m going to get emotional. In all my time on Strictly I have never seen a pair of legs work like that. Every closing place. Every forward turn.
“Just an absolute perfect routine for me. The choreography was stunning. The way the chemistry was between the two of you was portrayed beautifully. May I give the queen a kiss?”
Shirley gave Alex a huge and a kiss on the cheek, with telling the star: “That’s never happened before in Strictly history.”
But that’s not the only historical thing for Alex to achieve. When she was receiving her scores, Alex and Johannes were shocked to see Shirley give them a 10.
Their combined score was 36. Shirley gave them a 10, Craig gave an eight. Both Motsi and Anton gave a nine.
After they recovered from their initial shock in the Clauditorum, Claudia Winkleman wanted to let them know they had made another historical moment.
She told them: “We have never, ever had a ten for a rumba before. Jo’s crying and you’re tearful.”
Even the celebrities in the background were shocked, clarifying: “Ever?” to which Claudia confirmed: “Ever. Ever.”
