Not all streamers are created equally — even when they’re almost identical in design and price, as with the Roku streaming stick and Amazon Fire TV stick (both retailing for $49.99). Both promise quick setup and easy streaming, so it’s just a matter of seeing which lives up to the claims.
We wanted to vet each one thoroughly to discover where one soars and the other flops. But how does one begin to do so when these streaming sticks are comically similar? I logged into my favorite streamers, queued up my shows, and started watching.
Plus, these devices frequently go on sale during shopping events like Black Friday or Prime Day. With Amazon’s Big Spring Sale running March 25 to 31, we expect to see major savings on the retailer’s devices, like the Fire TV stick, and competing products are sure to also see some discounts. All that to say, if you’re looking for a right time to buy, it’s now.
