I saw your response regarding the person who wanted to reapply to his old firm. My son left his job for a more prestigious role in a bigger company but it is a hectic and dysfunctional office. His previous employer wouldn’t talk to him the week before he left – wouldn’t even say goodbye. He is interested in returning to the company. Could he do that?
Sounds like a very mature-minded boss. I mean, seriously, unless your son left on bad terms, misled his boss in some way or had done something to give them reason for the cold send-off, the boss should accept that people are free agents and have to follow their journey.
It doesn’t sound likely the door is open to a return but he won’t know for sure unless he knocks. Tell him to reach out, express that he feels he made a mistake and would like to return if the opportunity arises.
