THE Bureau of Customs (BoC) said it is on track to exceed its July collection target by at least P2 billion, based on the daily averages established with three collection days yet to be accounted for during the month.

“As of today, we still have an excess of almost P2 billion. But we have three days to go, and we have to collect P10 billion (in) three days,” BoC Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno told reporters at midweek last week.

“On the per-day average, we were collecting around P3.8 billion to P4.2 billion, so I think kaya naman (it is doable),” he said.

If the nearly P2-billion surplus was maintained, the BoC’s July collections would come in at around P84 billion, against the P82-billion target for the month.
