The Islanders, who already had one Sutter among the team leaders in penalty minutes, did not need another doing the same.
Arbour told Sutter he could be like Stan Mikita, the Blackhawks Hall of Fame centerman who’d regularly been among the league leaders in penalty minutes early in his career before cutting back and harnessing his full potential.
