While definitions of masculinity run the gamut from divine to deplorable, scientists argue that all men can be categorized in one of six archetypes of masculinity.
To determine this social scale, IDRlabs has designed the Male Hierarchy Test, a series of 31 statements to which respondents are asked to respond on a five-point scale, ranging from “Disagree” to “Agree.”
Statements include “I reward people generously if they do what I say,” “I enjoy all sorts of competitions and always go for the win” and “I use insincere flattery to smooth things over, and this often gets me my way.”
